Home Update..

The Bridgeport Superior Court has finally approved the sale of my house! I have two and half weeks left of a probationary period in which anyone can contest the sale and then I get the keys to my first home.

My father and I did an obscene amount of yard work today in hopes of being ahead of the game when I finally move in. The yard looks beautiful…far better than I had imagined when I first saw it. I can’t wait to have my first party and let all of my friends check it out.

Perhaps a belated birthday party?

I would really like a nice girlfriend to spend time with, but I’m stupid when it comes to “getting a girlfriend.” I’m capable of flirting, and do so, but never really make any moves past that. I’m pretty sure this stems from a trust issue.

Being an overweight teenager, I’m actually surprised by the amount of girlfriends I had. The relationships themselves were a different story, though. A fair percent ended with me discovering I was being cheated on. The majority of the rest came to a close with some bullshit reason. I’ve been walked on time and time again. Because of this I now prefer to be approached in the beginning. This isn’t how things work apparently. For me, there is less of an initial trust issue when being approached, it’s not so much about the possibility of rejection.

Here’s a shameless personal ad: I’m 27, a dedicated and loyal friend, and an incredibly hard worker. I’ll be a homeowner within a month. I like to read, listen to and learn about all types of music, and I dabble in art as well. I’m all about a stimulated coversation. I don’t like the club or bar scenes, but can my hold own socially. I can get a fireplace roaring, and consider myself a formidable cuddling partner. The most important thing for me in a girl is a sense of humor. Curves are beautiful.

I’ll start with the second point. Some may argue that this is something I can control. Sure, I could just NOT USE THE INTERNET. Sounds fair. I’ve tried so hard to not be critical.. of grammar, of spelling, of everything. I know that this is partially my problem. I’m a very high strung person, and my standards are set pretty high. But what I see on a day to day basis is just a joke. Step up, people. Take responsibility. Don’t just accept everything. Improve yourself .. if enough people do it it may become “hip.” Then good grammar and spelling will be the perfect match to your spray on jeans, your keffiyeh and your H&M jacket (I know - I won’t tell anyone that it’s not from Cambridge’s garment district).

As for my first point - I’m all for people having a voice. However, the line between opinion and fact has been heavily blurred, if not completely erased. It also seems that everyone feels overly compelled to share. Everything. If something is really, REALLY interesting then share it. Do you really need to update your status more than a few times throughout the day, though? Do you need to tweet “sigh”? No. What did you do before Myspace, Facebook and Twitter? Before the Internet? Did you text message all your friends with useless b.s.?

All right. I’m sorry to have subjected you to this rant, but I needed to get it off my chest. How do you feel about all of this?
